Introduction
My name is Jaime Patino. I have been drawing since I was very young and thankfully had a natural inclination to the craft. My art is inspired heavily by the old masters particularly those of the baroque and renaissance. The engravings of Gustavo Dore, Hendrick Goltzius and Albrecht Dürer have had some of the greatest impact on me. In the simplest terms, the mystery of life is my inspiration. With all of its beauty, potential, limitations and difficulties. The way in which some choose to face their mortality; the truth of their own limitations and vulnerabilities... Some face this with courage, grace, humility, and make the world better for it. And some face it with arrogance or bitterness, making the world and themselves worse…. And this is what I explore. I explore the light and the evil in man’s soul when forced to confront the unknown. As we all inevitably must.
